Class Warfare Proof Keynesian Economics Bad

Obama continues his call to codify class warfare in the IRS code. The rich that are footing the bill and paying the most, still have money, they are not on welfare nor are they living off food stamps and that must end. Though that is not what he directly said, it seems that is what he wants.

Obama continued his call for the rich, millionaires and billionaires, to pay their fair share to pay not less than a teacher but to pay more which is in direct conflict with Department of Treasury data. When asked about Occupy Wall Street he reiterated his past stance. That legislation was passed to deal with the issues.  He referred to Dodd-Frank as one of the fixes to many of the issues. See Democrats in Dreamland section The Bank Run.

Referring back to Democrats in Dreamland and Has Obama Ordered Tony Killed; Obama continued his call for clean energy. His programs have caused the power companies to have to plan to close plants and ask for massive rate increases, as a measure to offset the cost to meet new requirements and build replacement plants. Obama said because other countries governments are dumping hundreds of billions of dollars into green energy so to should America.

The example that he missed was in the home computer market. Where would Apple be today if the government had not given them billions in loans and government subsidizes to Apple and subsidizes to the consumers to purchase their products. That is actually a bad example; Steve Jobs did not get that. Yet his company gave us the Apple, Mac, iPad, iPhone and so on.

He stated that this jobs bill would be used to repair roads and bridges. However the question is why were those roads and bridges not repaired by the last shovel ready stimulus bill. His bill, he states would put people back to work. Yet for the government to do anything they have to confiscate first from the private sector.

Government programs that are proposed are for the most part temporary. Shifting money from the private sector to the public sector for a temporary fix will do nothing but slow or halt private sector jobs. This in turn lowers the amount of tax revenue that is collectable at the present rate.

The statist attempts to strengthen the market, the banks, in America is something that Obama believes worked and shall continue to work. Unlike the European Union it is easier for the United States to institute statist controls because it only takes one government to do the job as opposed to twenty plus governments.

Obama called for living within our means but unlike in the early 1920’s, he said it should be slowly done. He wants reforms in education, energy, and jobs, i.e. taxes and spending. Ignoring the fact, that in 1921 the Congress and President dictated that the government would live within its means right away, thusly creating massive growth, employment, advances in new products, and wealth.  It proved to be a successful program until progressives begun to inject themselves, beginning around 1927, into the debate and wrecked the recover. These progressives did give us what is called the “Great Depression.” Should we expect them to do the same again?

Obama has been reading about President Reagan but does he understand a few of his quotes:

  • The nine most terrifying words in the English language are, ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help.’
  • The government’s view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
  • The best minds are not in government. If any were, business would hire them away.
  • If you’re afraid of the future, then get out of the way, stand aside. The people of this country are ready to move again.
  • I don’t believe in a government that protects us from ourselves.
  • All great change in America begins at the dinner table.

As our forefathers did in their time so should be begin again in ours, a conversation and it should not be limited to the dinner table. Looking at today and voting patterns one sees the difference in people across the country. New England and the West Coast vote Democratic whereas those in the South have been voting Republican.

The difference in what services are offered, is by their choices, relevant to the conversation. New York still has rent controls in place dating back to FDR’s days. Massive government programs for just about anyone. Yet in the South those programs are much more limited or nonexistent, and the Southerners give more to charities and churches to provide some services, other things they just do on their accord.

Which way is better; to be forced to rely on one’s self or should one expect the government to be all, to all. The “be all” model has been a failure in Europe, just look at Greece. Still not convinced look at the all the great intervention that was produced by the old communist bloc countries.
