Christopher Garner graduated from Bowie High School in Maryland and went on to attend The United State Military Academy for two years participating in intercollegiate track, cross country, and intramural boxing. He eventually graduated from the University of Maryland, School of Engineering. His academic background and work experience has allowed him to successfully design, develop and produce many projects used from the depths of the oceans, to throughout the world and into space. He has successfully worked in the fields of environmental engineering, pollution control, energy and business management, aerospace, automotive, communications, and infection control. Mr. Garner is a Registered Professional Engineer with over thirty years experience. He is a member of Saint Andrews by the Bay, Catholic Church in Arnold Maryland, a Member of Knights of Columbus, and the Terrapin Club.

His parents were both Army officers and served during World War II in Europe. His mother Captain Geraldine Stanich was a first generation American. While serving as an Army Nurse she helped to establish new and innovative treatments at Oddstock Hospital Burn and Orthopedic Center near Salisbury, England. Her patients consisted of broken and burned pilots, airmen and soldiers. Lt. Colonel Paul Garner was an artillery officer who fought at the Battle of the Bulge, as well as, the Battle of the Chosen Reservoir in Korea eventually earning six battle stars. They met while he was recovering from wounds and married soon after World War II. Their family grew to seven sons traveling to postings in Nara, Japan, Hanau, Germany, Fort Hood, Texas, Fort Sill, Oklahoma and Fort Monroe, Virginia, eventually ending up in Maryland.

Chris’s grandmother Rachel Goetz was a speech writer for the two time presidential candidate Adelai Stevenson.

His family consists of his wife Carla and three sons. They have two dogs, two geese and a parakeet. Carla has worked for the Federal Government for over thirty years and is a Computer Technology Project Manager for the Census Bureau. Together they designed and built their own home, operated two businesses, and supported neighborhood activities such as youth lacrosse, little league baseball, age group track, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Chris has also helped with Youth Work Camp helping to repair homes while supplying direction to members of the youth group. His hobbies include cooking, history, fishing, and beer making. All the Garner children were educated in the Maryland public school system.
