Dan is Chairman Emeritus of AVCJ Group, Ltd. (AVCJ), which publishes the highly-regarded Asian Venture Capital Journal Weekly. AVCJ also organizes the Global Asian Private Equity and Venture Forum, whose annual conference in Hong Kong has become Asia’s top venture and private equity event. Dan and the AVCJ team took the company from the brink of insolvency to today’s successful company headquartered in Hong Kong.
Dan is also Founder, President and CEO of Qiosk.com, “The World’s Newsstand,” one of the pioneers and innovative leaders in digital magazine delivery and media. Qiosk is headquartered in New York City with offices in Mumbai, India.
Dan grew up in Chicago and began his career in the financial world in Houston and New York. He studied at Princeton University and graduated from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public Policy and International Affairs’ undergraduate program. During his junior year, he received his Certificat from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques in Paris. He holds a JD from Boston University and a MBA from Columbia. He served as an enlisted man in the United States Army Europe and is a member of the Illinois Bar.
He is also the author of Principles of the American Republic, published by Sturdy Oak Press in September 2010. Both are available on Amazon.In January 2010, Dan completed his first book, The Future of Finance: How Private Equity and Venture Capital Will Shape the Global Economy. The book was published by John Wiley & Sons.
Dan is the proud father of two beautiful and successful daughters from his first marriage. Allison, who works with the Domestic Violence Survivors Justice Act Campaign; and Dana, an associate with the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. Dan calls southern Nevada home with his lovely wife Yanan Ding, who heads the Sino-Italian Program for Environmental Protection in Beijing and Shanghai.
