Biography from Pirtle For Congress
Jim Pirtle was raised in the suburbs of Denver, Colorado. After high school he joined the Army and was stationed at Fort Ord, California. Returning home he then completed college, in Denver.
Enjoying all that Colorado has to offer, in 1977, Jim relocated to Colorado Springs, where he continues to call home. It was here, he worked for Ampex and Northrop Grumman in various engineering and management positions. Eventually in 1993, Jim started a video consulting company, based in Colorado Springs, which he still owns and operates.
In addition, Jim is an FAA commercial pilot and flight instructor. He also is a member of the NRA and a Certified Pistol and Reloading Instructor, as well as, a Range Safety Officer.
Jim is married and had the honor of raising his daughter and son here in Colorado Springs. His daughter currently attends college at UCCS. Unfortunately his son, Sgt. James D. Pirtle, was killed in enemy action in Afghanistan, on May 1st, 2009.
Sgt. Pirtle was proud to serve his country, receiving the Combat Action Badge, Purple Heart, and Bronze Star. Being buried in his hometown, Colorado Springs, was his last wish. Engraved on the National Security Agency’s National Cryptologic Memorial, at Fort Meade, Maryland, is Sgt. Pirtle’s name.
In honor of Jim’s son’s ultimate sacrifice, and the sacrifices that all soldiers and soldiers’ families have given to our country, Jim is dedicating his life to public service. Jim understands the real cost of decisions made in Washington, not just in lives, but in business and freedom.
