On April 28th through May 5th I will run 253 miles across the district to raise awareness of hunger, food insecurity, and poverty in Arkansas’ Third Congressional District.

Dear Friend,

Food insecurity. It’s a phrase that doesn’t quite bring to mind the face of the problem it describes. Across America and in Arkansas, average, working middle-class people are having to stretch their paychecks to adequately feed their families. We want to help these families so they do not have to make the choice between paying the rent or buying food. That’s why I’m writing you today.

Ken Aden, our Democratic nominee in the Third Congressional District, understands this challenge and is working to change it through community support.  In 2010, I was privileged to watch Ken run 210 miles through very hard terrain and even worse weather. He ran not to raise money, but cans of food for his local food bank.  When he finished his run, Ken had raised over 7500 cans.

I was proud to have pledged cans of food to him then, and I am even more so to do it again.
I’m pledging 200 cans to Ken’s upcoming Run for Hunger 2.

Will you join me in my pledge?

I’d like to challenge my fellow county chairs, my fellow party officers, the presidents of every Democratic Party auxiliary, and every Arkansas Democrat that receives this email to match my pledge to Ken’s run. Working together, I believe we can raise 25,000 cans.

Ken is donating cans raised to his local food pantry. Many of us have our own local food banks and pantries. Make your pledge to Ken, and donate the cans you pledge to your local food bank.

Democrats understand that people must come first. We don’t just talk the talk, we walk the walk, and Ken Aden runs!
