Biography of David Standridge from Standridge for Congress Committee

David worked as a farmer in his teens, graduated Hayden High School, and later joined law enforcement. He worked his way up through the ranks and achieved the rank of Captain with the Blount County Sheriff’s Department in his 21-year career. He completed his training at the Montgomery Police Academy and the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. He received his Associates degree in Criminal Justice from Wallace State College (summa cum laude) and his Bachelor of Science degree in Justice Studies from Athens State University (summa cum laude). He later served as a part-time instructor at Wallace State College. He was elected as a School Board Member on the Blount County School Board in 2000.

David was elected Probate Judge and Commission Chairman of Blount County in 2006. It was during his term as Blount County’s Probate Judge and Commission Chairman that the Blount County Commission made the tough decisions necessary to pay off all of its long-term debt. Blount County’s long-term debt is Paid In FULL.

David has been married to his high-school sweetheart, Danna, for 30 years. They are members of Hayden First Baptist Church. Danna is a retired biology and English teacher and is now an agent -assistant in youth development with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System in Blount County. She is the developer and coordinator of the Blout County Ambassador Leadership Program which teaches leadership skills to the youth in our six county high schools.

David and Danna have three children: Lonna, Caleb, and Joshua. They also have four grandchildren: James David, Wyatt, Leah, and Sydney Grace.

Lonna has her teaching degree and is married to Wes Dillard of Alabama Guard Rail. Together they have three children: James David, Wyatt, and Leah.

Caleb graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in the class of 2007 and is currently serving as a Captain in the United States Air Force.

Joshua is currently a senior at Mississippi State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and will graduate April 2012. Joshua is married to Morgan Dunlap Standridge who earned her teaching degree, and they have a daughter, Sydney Grace.

David Standridge is a man of humble roots. His father, Jack Standridge, was a farmer, miner, and later a contractor in home building. His mother, Patty Standridge, was a homemaker and later was employed and retired from SONAT in Birmingham.
