It used 6 iMacs as workstations, 2 Macintosh 8100′s w/PPC 601 Processors as servers, custom compiled and running MkLinux DR 2 for user authentication, web, mail, usenet newsgroups, shadow password protection, and other processes. In addition, the ISP used 4 Computone 64 port terminal servers and 4 ISPorte chassis’s populated originally with 8/33.6 modems on a card, then later upgraded to microcom modems with Rockwell 56k KFlex chips and then to microcom modems with a Rockwell 56k chip with V.90, when the protocol was finalized. The Microcom Modems were then replaced with an Assured Access X1000 in 1998, Additional equipment included Adtrans CSU/DSU’s, Cisco 2501 Routers w/ver 10.x software with 2 remote pops. When the company was sold to Midwest communications in Dubuque, IA in 1999, it had 20 employees, 1000 users, and fetched 1.018 mil in a population area of 30,000 persons.
