Biography of Steve Kraus from Kraus 4 Congress

Steve is a fiscal conservative who believes that the taxpayers know best how to spend their money. He is a strong advocate for accountability, and would champion the call for Congress to live under the same laws it passes. Steve believes in a common, no nonsense approach to spending; live within your means attitude. As a liaison working between contractors and the government, Steve saw firsthand the fraud, waste, and misuse of taxpayer dollars. He believes that government must be limited in the money they are allowed to spend.

Steve enlisted in the U.S. Air Force at the age of 18, obtaining the rank of Staff Sergeant, serving as an Electronics Warfare Tech for 11 years. He had numerous duty stations, including Davis Monthan AFB, AZ, Seymour-Johnson AFB, NC, Osan AFB, South Korea, and Hurlburt Field, FL.

While serving our county, Steve distinguished himself early as a leader, with additional duty responsibilities as Shift Supervisor, Decon Team Chief Disaster NCOIC and Flight Team Member/Liaison. He was deployed to the Philippines, Japan, Germany, and Panama.

After serving our country, Steve went to work as an Engineer Assistant for Georgia Tech Research Institute, Atlanta, GA, then as a Field Engineer for System Research Laboratories out of Dayton, Ohio, both of which contracted service with the U.S. government.

As a commissioned independent contractor, Steve was instrumental in the Flight Test Program of the MH53J Pavelow Helicopter for the 1st Special Operations Wing, Hurlburt Field, FL. He was a field engineer deployed as a GS-12 (rank of Lt. Col.) with 1st SOW for Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. While at King Fahd AB, Saudi Arabia, he distinguished himself by expediting repair on a mission critical MC 130 Combat Talon aircraft. His actions directly contributed to the successful accomplishment of this highly classified / time sensitive sortie and he was commended by his superiors for his service. Steve then left the military sector and entered into a variety of private sector endeavors. He worked for a short time as a Field Engineer for Stock Equipment Company, traveling to Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Australia.

Steve was the Vice-Chairman and two term Chairman for the Okaloosa County Christian Coalition in Florida. He participated in Pro-Life rallies in Pensacola, FL on behalf of protecting the sanctity of human life as a critical issue in the fight for the morality of our nation.

His is currently an auctioneer, licensed by the Ohio Department of Agriculture, and bonded in favor of the State of Ohio. He is also a licensed realtor, working with Prudential Stadtmiller Realty. He has successfully conducted over 300 auctions.
