Biography of Robert Coblentz from Coblentz for Congress Committee
Robert Coblentz is a life long resident of Maryland. Born at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, he resided on a farm in Middletown until the age of 8. At that time, Robert moved to the city of Frederick with his mother and older brother. At the beginning of middle school, Robert moved to Detour, Maryland. Robert graduated from Walkersville High School and attended Salisbury University, Maryland. Robert received a B.S. Degree in Management Information Systems with Cum Laude honors from Salisbury University. Robert is also a member of the honorary management fraternity, Sigma Iota Epsilon. Robert moved to Washington County in 2005 with his soon to be wife, Katie. Robert and Katie moved to Williamsport, MD in early 2008. They currently enjoy residing in Williamsport with their dog, Cooper.
As a profession, Robert is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and is employed as a systems analyst at an online university. The PMP credential is the most important industry-recognized certification for project managers. Robert is an active member of the Project Management Institute (PMI). During his work experience as a project manager and systems analyst, Robert has managed and lead various successful Enterprise Resouce Planning (ERP) software implementations. The software implementation Robert has managed enable institutions of higher education realize more efficient and streamlined buiness processes, which directly improves their bottom line. Information systems also provide a better insight for business intelligence for improved decision making. Additionally, these projects have provided experience for identifying and leveraging best practices for managing budgets (with some projects topping seven figures), risk, resources and communication. While managing projects, Robert has had the responsibility to manage cost, schedule and performance to ensure the ultimate success and acceptance of the project is realized.
Robert became involved in politics in 2008. He credits President Obama for providing the spark and enthusiasm of politics as he could not simply stand by on the side line and watch his beloved country become a second class nation. In 2010, Robert was the Washington County Campaign Director for a U.S. Senate candidate. The candidate performed well, winning the county by a 10% margin.
Robert continues to remain active and directly involved. In 2011, Robert was the Vice President of the Washington County Republican Club. The club has experienced membership growth as grassroots activities have created awareness and interest. His efforts earned him Republican of the Year honors from the Washington County Republican Club. Robert also serves on the Zoning Appeals Board (as an alternate), Tri-County Council and is a Commissioner for the Housing Authority of Washington County. Robert has not previously sought public office.
Why is Robert running for U.S. Congress in Maryland’s 6th Congressional District? He loves his country and strongly believes that he can make a direct, positive impact. He lives on Main Street, America and fully understands the issues and concerns everyday Americans are attempting to work through. Robert believes his fresh approach and conservative philosophy is what’s needed to rightfully restore the power back to the people.
