Biography of Corrogan R. Vaughn from Friends of Vaughn for US Senate
Corrogan Vaughn was raised in a family of strong faith and conservative family values. His father, Rev. Dr. A.C.D. Vaughn, was honored as the first recipient of the Rosa Parks’ Medal of Freedom in 1989, was his first mentor. His father and mother, Dr. Lillian Purnell Vaughn, taught him to be a passionate and faithful servant of the community.
Corrogan attended Baltimore Public Schools - Callaway Elementary, Green Spring Jr. High, and Northwestern Senior High. From there, he went on to Virginia University at Lynchburg, to complete a Bachelor of Science in Business.
Corrogan demonstrated his strong work ethic at US Airways. Even after being diagnosed with a brain tumor, Corrogan went on to achieve his pilot’s license. He is a cancer survivor.
All of his life, Corrogan has worked in faith-based organizations, such as the Progressive National Baptist Convention. He was the first lay leader to be elected as First Vice President of the Convention for the State of Maryland, where he pushed a more active role in voter registration. In addition, during Hurrican Katrina, Corrogan was selected to the Leadership Team of the PNBC, to deserve on multiple occasions in the disaster area of the gulf.
In addition, serving earlier on the Political Action Concern Board of the Convention, Corrogan Vaughn has been a leader and servant to underprivileged children and their families, as well as, those incarcerated and their families.
Politically over the years, Corrogan has worked on numerous campaigns including Gov. Robert L. Erhlich, Jr. and Lt. Gov. Michael S. Steele in 2002. Assisting many candidates throughout Maryland has helped Corrogan develop a better understanding for representing the TRUE citizens of Maryland, as well as, their needs and the REAL issues facing Maryland citizens from Oakland to Ocean City, from Garrett County to St. Mary’s County, and from Cecil County to Somerset County .
Currently, Corrogan Vaughn serves as a Deacon and Lay Leader at Sharon Baptist Church. He also serves as an Executive Board Member for the largest interfaith organization in the world, the Hampton Ministers Conference and Music Guild.
