Congressional Candidate Gary DeLong
Announces Long Beach Chamber of Commerce Endorsement

Long Beach, CA – The Gary DeLong for Congress campaign is extremely proud to announce that the Long Beach Area Chamber of Commerce Political Action Committee has endorsed Gary DeLong for the new 47th Congressional District, joining previous endorsements by former Governor George Deukmejian, US Congressman Dan Lungren, US Congressman Ed Royce, State Board of Equalization Vice-Chair Michelle Steel and Los Angeles Country Supervisor Don Knabe.

Chamber Chairman Joanne Davis stated, “Councilmember DeLong is the right person in the right place at the right time.  Our country needs leaders like Gary who can work with people with differing views to build consensus on difficult issues.  I’m confident he can bring his business skills and public service experience to improve the fiscal health of Washington.”

According to Randy Gordon, President/CEO of the Chamber, “We’re supporting Gary DeLong for the new 47th Congressional District because he has a proven track record of creating jobs and balancing the budget.  We need more representatives like Gary in Washington, D.C. who understand how the economy works, will work to improve economic opportunities for all Americans, and are not career politicians.

Councilman DeLong is currently Chair of the City’s Budget Oversight Committee and the Federal Legislation Committee, as well as Chairman of the Alameda Corridor Transit Authority and the Los Cerritos Wetlands Authority.  Gary also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Aquarium of the Pacific and the Board of Governors for the Long Beach City College Foundation.

“It is an honor to have the Chamber’s endorsement,” DeLong said.  “The Long Beach Area Chamber of Commerce is known for its ability to effectively represent the interests of the business community and support economic growth.  I am pleased they have recognized my commitment to job creation, job protection and economic development, and I look forward to working with the Chamber to develop economic policies that will get our country moving again.”

Gary DeLong is a third generation Southern Californian who has lived in the Long Beach area for over 25 years. He is currently president of The RTP Group, a Southern California based telecommunications company. DeLong resides in Long Beach with his wife Dawna and daughters Danielle, Elizabeth and Katie.
