To Candidates in the May 12 Election and the May 29 Primary Elections:
The League of Women Voters–Kerrville Area is hosting a Candidates’ Fair at Tivy High School Cafeteria in Kerrville from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 3 for the public to meet all opposed and unopposed candidates in the May 12 Election and the May 29 Primary. We will provide tables for campaign literature.
In a separate section of Tivy High School Cafeteria the League will host a Candidates Forum for the candidates of the two parties running for US Representative District 21. All candidates who will appear on the ballot for these contested races are invited. Only candidates will be allowed to participate; no substitute may stand in for a candidate at the forum.
LWV policies require that at least two candidates in each race must participate in this forum; otherwise, a single candidate in a race can only be introduced at a forum but not speak or answer questions, as the League is nonpartisan. As of today candidates’ participation has not been confirmed.
The Democratic Party Candidates will make their personal statements of their qualifications and reasons for running for office then answer the audience questions from 6:00 to 6:25 p.m.; the Republican Party Candidates will do the same from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Please contact LWV-KA President Meg Scott-Johnson at [email protected] for more information and to receive the pack of instructions for the Candidates Fair or Forum.
Our Candidates Fair and Forums are ways we manifest our League of Women Voters Mission Statement:
The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
