Biography from CLARK FOR CONGRESS

Mike Clark enters the race for the 5th Congressional seat in Connecticut by bringing 35 years of work experience, with the unique perspective of distinguished government service, employment in private industry, and service as a town’s chief elected official.

Clark received a Bachelor’s Degree from Rowan University in 1976.  He worked as a high school teacher and athletic coach for 5 years, while earning a Master’s Degree at night from Seton Hall University.

Clark’s service to our nation began in 1983 when he accepted an appointment as an FBI Special Agent.  Following his graduation from the FBI Academy, he served in the Albany, New York and New York City Divisions.  In 1990, he was transferred to Connecticut.  During his 22 years as a Special Agent, Clark investigated corruption in municipal and state government, probed financial crimes, and combated terrorism.  The results of his wide ranging investigations have insured that the citizens of Connecticut have benefitted from greater integrity and accountability from their elected officials.  In recognition for his work he was nominated for the Attorney General’s Award.  In 2005, Clark was awarded the U. S. Attorney’s Award for investigative excellence and service to the citizens of Connecticut.

Upon his retirement from the FBI, Clark began a second career as the manager of international investigations and compliance for Otis Elevator and its 60,000 employees.  Otis Elevator is a division of United Technologies Corporation and conducts business in 200 countries and is a $12 billion dollar corporation.  Clark is currently employed as a professor at the Henry Lee College of Criminal Justice at the University of New Haven.

In 2005, Clark was elected as the Chairman of the Town Council in Farmington.  As the chief elected official in Farmington he has advocated fiscal responsibility and the efficient delivery of core services to its citizens.  While in office, Clark has maintained the region’s lowest mill rate, paid off 20% of the town’s bonded debt, had its Moody’s municipal rating upgraded to AAA status, and shown annual growth in the town’s Grand List.  Clark has subsequently been re-elected on two occasions by increasingly larger margins of victory.

Clark has been married to his wife, Sue for 33 years.  They have four children who graduated from Farmington High School and their respective universities and are now independently employed.  For over 21 years Clark has been an active member of his community, belonging to the Rotary and Exchange Club service organizations.  He has been involved in youth athletics and service organizations, with his volunteer service being recognized by awards from the Farmington Amateur Athletic Club, the Bohdan Kolinsky Award for volunteerism and the Capital Area Substance Abuse Council.

Mike Clark has shown outstanding initiative and achievement in each phase of his life.   He has served our nation as a highly decorated and acclaimed FBI Special Agent, enjoyed a successful career in private industry with one of Connecticut’s finest corporations, and has had the honor of being elected on three occasions as the chief elected official in Farmington.  He has the experience, integrity and is ready to serve the citizens in Connecticut’s 5th Congressional District as their representative in the U. S. House of Representatives.
