Maurice Edward Duhon, Jr.
Maurice Duhon Congressional Candidate Texas District 18
Biography of Maurice Duhon from Maurice Duhon for Congress
“I am more than a mere Rapper, I am a man with a firm hold on his faculties and abilities. For years, I have allowed others to govern this land and its great citizens. That governance, has refused to emulate the qualities of prudence, rationalism, and logic.
While I once focused my energies and talents towards entertaining my fellow Americans and those familiar with my artistic craft, I now am forced to reduce the focus I have given to the arts of music, poetry, prose and my other whims of juvenilia.
I understand that in this age of sound-bites and eye-catching headlines, it may be fun and interesting to focus on a “rapper” persona, but please always be mindful; I purposely stepped away from my art and music out of respect for the current state of the American Citizen. Rather than formulate words to rhyme and inspire others to support the improvement of these great United States, I believe it is time to formulate thought and insight that will provide the needed legislation to facilitate such improvement rather that wait for another person to have a political epiphany.
Though I support this articles relevance and its addition to our TX 18th District and national conversation, please allow me to say this; I am no mere “rapper”, I am a man whom happens to rap very well. I am a man of many talents and convictions. I am also a licensed Texas REALTOR, published poet, loving son, and avid book reader. I stand before you a man and a candidate with a firm hold to my character, integrity, and actions.
Although I am greatful for the media exposure and the introduction of our MDfor18 Campaign into the political dialoge, with these sincere words, I hope you can look beyond the political “giddyness” of headlines such as,
“Jackson Lee to face challenge from rapper Cornbreadd in November” and realize the true weight and reality of our nation’s present social and economic state and the immense amount of gravitas and foresightedness we will need in order to examine the question of whether the solutions for a better tomorow and a better America have resided within the mind and heart of the current (TX) 18th Dist. U.S. Representative since 1995, or if those solutions and innovative ideals will be found in the lesser known INDEPENDENT Candidate, Maurice Duhon, Jr.”
