Biography of John Gay from Angels for John Gay
Texas Auctioneer, John Gay, was born in Moultrie, Georgia. John started working in the family’s Venetian blind and awning business around age seven. John enjoyed Scouting, was active in 4-H, Drama Club, and Fellowship of Christian Students, graduating from high school at age sixteen. In 1979, John joined the U.S. Coast Guard. As an Electronics Technician, John solved an electro-mechanical problem saving taxpayers more than $2,000,000. After a four year enlistment John moved his young family to Texas. John is a 1998 graduate of Texas A&M University, with a B.S. in Industrial Distribution. He is the great nephew of a U.S. Representative, the Honorable William Lankford and cousin to Ensign George Gay (also an Aggie) of The Battle of Midway fame. John is husband to Lisa Gay; father of two grown children and proud new grandfather.
For over seven years John served Spring I.S.D. as Supervisor of Supply Services, purchasing, warehousing and distributing products to 39,000 students and teachers. John received the highest certifications available in the Texas Association of School Business Officials and in the Association of School Business Officials International. John and Lisa are both auctioneers in their family auction business.
