I served as a Platoon Leader in El Monte, CA., an Executive Officer and Acting Commander of the HHC, 311th COSCOM in Los Angeles, CA. and Pyong Tek, Soputh Korea during Team Spirit (1990), during which time subordinate units from the Army, Army Reserve, Army National Guard, Airforce, Korean Army and Korean Special Forces made me feel like a little general (even though I was only a 1LT. It was awesome! GO ARMY!

I was a letter carrier in West Los Angeles, Hollywood and South Central Los Angeles, California. I was also a member of the NALC and worked with management and our union in an innovative Employee Involvement (EI) Team to resolve local workplace issues for our employees.

Soldier — Chaplain’s Assistant / Public Affairs N.C.O.

I worked as a Chaplain’s Assistant in the 1st Brigade, 8th Infantry Division, in Lee Barracks, Mainz, West Germany. I was temporarily attached to the Pioneer Regiment (Engineers) in the West german Army and have been trained on many of their tactics and weapons of the day. I was also sent to East Berlin under joint orders from the United States and the Soviet Socialist Republic (Red Army). Then I was transferred to the 1/65th (IHAWK) Battalion at USNAS Boca Chica (Key West), FL. and then our unit was transferred to Fort Blisss, TX. where I served the remainder of my enlistment as a Public Affairs N.C.O. during the Iranian hostage crises.
