Biography of Harry Pierce from Harry Pierce Campaign
I grew up in the center of the country, in a small town near Joplin Missouri. My father was a small business owner who instilled in me a strong business sense and work ethic. During my high school years I worked for my Dad, learned much about running a business and engineering principles. After graduation, I went to college. I also worked for a company which designed and built milling machinery and later as an aircraft airframe inspector for Aero Design and Engineering. It was my responsibility to work and pay for my educational expenses. I studied at Southern Nazarene University and University of Central Oklahoma and earned a degree in psychology, religion, and aviation.
Serving my Country:
After college I went to U.S. Air Force pilot training and earned my wings in 1964. I served as a pilot with the MO.ANG and U.S. Air Force during the Viet Nam war. I am proud to be a Viet Nam veteran. I live with the constant reminder of the cost of freedom as I think of several friends who gave their lives for our country.
For twenty eight years I was a pilot for Trans World Airlines. I enjoyed the responsibility and challenges of being an Airline Captain and I am grateful for that opportunity, as it was a very rewarding career.
My Christian belief is the foundation of my life. As a student of theology and history, my values, principles and guidelines are drawn from my faith. I have attended church since childhood and I’ve been involved in several Christian ministries.
I am affiliated with the Reserve Officers Association, The Military Order of the World Wars, The American legion, and the National Rifle Association. I am also involved with programs which give guidance to our youth and those that help out veterans.
I enjoy watching football, playing golf, fishing, and classic cars. I am a former marathon runner but now settle for three to six miles a day.
