Biography of David Cantu from David Cantufor Congress
Born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley, Cantu graduated from Pharr-San Juan-Alamo High School and the University of Texas-Pan American in Edinburg with a Bachelor’s of Science degree.
Cantu has managed his family’s farm and ranch operation, as well as his own farming operation, for more than 25 years.
His local and regional involvement has included the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show (volunteer), Valley Land Fund (member and board of directors), 4H (adult leader and district officer), Texas Nature & Environmental Photographers (member and officer) and McAllen Chamber of Commerce/Incubator (member and participant).
Most recently Cantu has been appointed by Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack (Washington, D.C.) to serve on the National Grain Inspection, Packers and Stockyards Advisory Board.
