Biography of Steve Wilkins from Wilkins For Congress

A native of Durham, NC, Steve Wilkins served in the US Army for 22 years, including three tours at Fort Bragg. He completed the Army’s Special Forces Qualification Course and served around the world including combat deployments Urgent Fury (Grenada), Desert Storm, and Iraqi Freedom. He retired a Lieutenant Colonel. Steve’s education includes BA, Political Science and MS, Logistics Management.

On an earlier tour to Fort Bragg, Steve and his family lived in Southern Pines where both his children, Andrew and Claire Margaret, started school. Following his retirement they decided to return to the North Carolina Sandhills where he’s since been working for small and large businesses and active in community affairs. He currently works for the The Boeing Company, is a member of the Moore County Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors, serves on the Whispering Pines Lakes & Watershed Board, and is an active member of his church.

His past civic services included: Member, Fort Campbell Community Schools Board; Parent Advisory Committee member at New Century Middle School and Union Pines High School; Chairman of Pinehurst United Methodist Church Council; and member of Whispering Pines Long Range Planning Committee. Meg, his wife of nearly 25 years is employed by Moore County Schools, has been active in the Military Child Education Coalition, and is a member of Kiwanis of the Sandhills. His son, Andrew, recently graduated from Davidson College and his daughter, Claire Margaret, currently attends Appalachian State University.
