Biography of Bruce Peller, DMD from Dr. Bruce Peller for Congress
Dr. Bruce Gary Peller has been proud to call North Carolina home since 1979. His parents were the children of Eastern European Jews who had immigrated to the United States of America around the turn of the century. As millions before them had done his grandparents came to find a better life for themselves and their children.
A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Peller also received an MBA in Health Care Administration from the prestigious Wharton Graduate School of Business.
It was to fulfill the final requirement for his MBA that he came to North Carolina. He served an administrative residency as “Assistant to the Director” during the start up of the Winston-Salem Dental Care Plan.
The Winston-Salem Dental Care Plan was a unique delivery system developed by “RJR Tobacco” to provide the highest quality dental care to 40,000 employees and their families.
After leaving RJR Dr. Peller started his private practice, “North Point Dental Care” in 1988. In 2007 he was joined in practice by his wife Dr. Paula Henao. They continue in practice together.
Dr. Peller is a member of the American Dental Association, North Carolina Dental Society, Forsyth County Dental Society, and a fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Peller is also a member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry.
Along with many others in their profession, Dr. Peller and his wife Dr. Henao make time in their busy lives to provide dental care for low income children and their families. They are volunteers with the “Give Kids a Smile” program and and the “Community Care Center.” Dr. Peller also volunteers with “Project Homeless Connect” a program to provide dental care for the homeless in the triad area.
Dr. Peller and Dr. Henao live in Pfafftown, NC which is located just a few miles northwest of Winston-Salem, NC. To fulfill a requirement for American citizenship, Dr. Henao’s mother, Elizabeth Muriel de Henao is currently living with them.
Dr. Peller is a member of Temple Emmanuel in Winston-Salem, NC. He enjoys joining his friends at a local gym, biking, hiking and watching television. He also spends time playing the piano and following national politics.
As a first time candidate Dr. Peller is looking forward to an exciting and positive campaign. He is anticipating an eight month journey through the heartland of the fifth congressional district. Dr. Peller and Dr. Henao will be listening to citizens throughout the fifth district with the goal of “creating the common ground” that can lead to an improved quality of life in our communities. Dr. Peller understands that he has a lot to learn.
