Bill Flynn was a 2012 Congressional Candidate North Carolina District 6

Biography of Bill Flynn from Committee to Elect Bill Flynn

People across the new 6th Congressional District know Bill Flynn from several decades of broadcasting on the radio. His Guilford County roots run deep. He has come to know and appreciate many families, businesses and charities that make our region so special.

Bill went to high school in Raleigh, attended UNC-Greensboro and completed undergraduate studies at UNC-Chapel Hill.

He and his wife, Ann, have three adult children, and they are proud to call North Carolina home.

Bill has worked with noted local businesses to develop the “Buy North Carolina First” marketing campaign. He enjoys a vibrant relationship with Greensboro’s Concord Bridge Consulting. Bill also sponsors and hosts an adult education series on the United States Constitution at his church.

Like so many other taxpayers across the 6th Congressional District, Bill senses that Washington is badly broken. He believes that without a return to constitutional government, we simply will not deliver a better, more promising America to our children, the duty of all generations.

Bill believes that our district’s one vote in the U.S. House of Representatives is, by itself, not enough to advance 6th District concerns and the concerns of millions of others in this country. But with his well-honed communication skills and deep understanding of the issues, Bill knows how to shine the light on problems, build relationships and bring others to a common solution.

Bill believes that a political renaissance is needed in the United States and says, “There is no reason that renaissance cannot begin right now in the new 6th Congressional District.”

Why I’m Running

For many years, you may have heard my voice on morning radio. Today, I have a different and vastly more important reason for you to hear my voice.

A good place to begin is with the oath of office all elected officials must take before assuming their duties. It goes like this:

“I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same that I take this obligation freely without any mental reservations or purpose of evasion and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter so help me God.”

Ladies and gentlemen, our country is under assault from those who think power over you is their entitlement. Your unalienable rights are under assault from those same people. Our government has largely lost and does not seem to care about the words, “the consent of the governed.” Neighbors, we have a White House, Legislative branch and even a Judiciary branch that has become increasingly hostile and I submit to you, even destructive to the principles of the United States Constitution. Example of this are:

  1. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s comments in Egypt
  2. Justice Stephen Breyer’s 1st amendment musings
  3. Justice Elena Kagan, who is unwilling to recuse herself even though she brings a clear conflict of interest to the ObamaCare hearings.

The White House is set on destroying the principles of our Constitution. Whether it is issuing Executive orders to bypass the Congress or the vast appointments of Czars for everything, except dog catcher, this President has shown little respect for our Constitution. He has failed to secure our borders and allowed the EPA to run out of control. Even the Justice Department, which insults its own name, has encouraged the gunwalking sale of guns to Mexican drug dealers. The result was the death of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry, a loving son, brother and uncle.

Then there is the Legislative Branch. It pains me to see Congress routinely violating the spirit, if not, the letter of the Constitution. When you have a country that has a debt load higher than its Gross Domestic Product, there is a problem. When you have a country that spends more than it brings in, there is a problem. Over the last 28 years, our National Debt has gone from $1.6 trillion dollars to almost $15.5 trillion dollars. Over the last 28 years, our Congress has increased the debt ceiling more than 35 times. This is insane. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Now, we have to worry about Obamacare and the National Defense Authorization Act, both of which tread on the very fiber of our unalienable rights as citizens of this great country.

It is time our elected and appointed officials behave less like myth busters and more like oath keepers.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I submit to you that if any official flagrantly and repeatedly marginalizes their sworn oath of office, it is the duty of others under that same sworn oath to hold that person accountable. When is the last time any representative took a stand and called out even one violation of the oath of office?

And so now, it is up to us, we the people, to right this badly listing ship of American governance.

The Declaration of Independence states:

We are endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights that among these are life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights Governments are instituted among men deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish and to institute a new government.

We alter our government at the ballot box, and alter we must,

…with the power of one LEGAL vote at a time !

I had lunch with a gentleman named Jim last week who told me, “Something is wrong. How do we fix it?”

That’s what I address today, especially as it applies to the new 6th district.

First let me say, if you like where things are in this country, then keep sending the same people back. The very people who have either helped, or not effectively stopped, this unacceptable decline of America.

But, if you are like me, with every ounce of your heart, you believe that

….now is not the time to stand down for any incumbent, but rather it’s time to stand up for America !

If you feel that now is not the time to cling to the old 6th District, but rather time to step up for the new 6th District….

Then stand up and step up with me.

We need a Constitutional Conservative to represent us; A Constitutional Conservative who has actually read and studied the most sweeping, enlightened and liberating words ever penned by man in the Declaration of Independence, The United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

I, Bill Flynn, am that man.

We need someone to go to Washington,

Not to go along to get along,

Not as a permanent fixture,

Not to return favors,

Not as a way to control other people.

But rather we need someone to go to Washington

To help restore our Constitutional Republic,

To stand on our First Principles,

To be judged in 2 years by the will of the People,

To stop the insanity,

To refresh the tree of liberty, which stands dormant and

dying.

I, Bill Flynn, am that man.

We need representation that underscores the greatness of our district, the nobility of the American Experience, the pride of North Carolinians, and the exceptionalism of being “one nation, under God with liberty and justice for all.”

I, Bill Flynn, am that man.

Ladies, Gentlemen, Republicans, Democrats, and Unaffiliated voters across our new 10 county district, today, in the heart of the new district, I am humbled and honored to say:

I am Bill Flynn, your candidate for the NEW United States House of Representatives 6th District of North Carolina.

I ask for the honor to have my voice be your voice, our voice, for the bold challenges of today and tomorrow.

…..Today, we stand on the steps of Governmental Plaza, but come January 2013, with your unwavering efforts, WE will stand on the steps of the Capitol Building !!!!

Finally, a fresh voice for the 6th District will reverberate through the hallways and meeting rooms of the 113th Congress.

Unlike too many others in government, when I take that Oath of Office, I will mean it.

My friend Bill Randall has it right when he talks about C.A.N.E. Before considering any bill from my first day forward, I will ask the question, is it:

  1. Constitutional
  2. Affordable
  3. Necessary
  4. Ethical

In closing, we are Americans. Our birthright is boldness and risk taking. We rest not on a large and all powerful government, but on our sovereignty under God. We are individuals, who together, give our consent to be governed by the limited and enumerated powers of our United States Constitution. Years of unprecedented government intrusion can only be challenged by an absolutely unprecedented number of main stream Americans reentering, and staying engaged in the political environment. We see what happens, when we don’t pay attention. We risk losing more than an economy, we risk losing our country.

For many the restoration has already begun. We’ve seen it and felt it in groups like Conservatives for Guilford County, The Tea Parties across the state, some I’ve hosted on this very plaza, a resurgence of interest in political workshops and unbiased American history courses, like the one I am hosting on the United States Constitution at my church.

The new American political renaissance can start right here, now, today in the New 6th District. We must get our friends, family and neighbors engaged.

If everyone here today knocked on just 2 doors today and every day up until May 8, asking everyone else to do the same,
The 6th district roar at the ballot box will be heard around the world, but most importantly the effects will benefit all of us right here in Guilford, Alamance, Surry, Stokes, Rockingham, Durham, Orange, Caswell, Person and Granville Counties.
