Meet Robert

Immigrating to the US

Robert Gonzalez was born on February 15, 1960 and lived his early childhood under Castro’s Communist regime in Cuba. On December 12, 1967, he and his family immigrated to the United States. In 1968, they settled in Portland, Oregon where they learned the American language and culture. In 1977, his parents moved to Houston, Texas where Robert graduated from Milby High School in 1978 and later earned an Associates of Science Degree in instrumentation Technology from San Jacinto College in Pasadena, Texas in 1981.

Career

After graduating from college, Robert began his employment with Tenneco Chemicals Corporation as an Instrument Technician. In 1984, Tenneco Chemicals was purchased by Occidental Chemicals (OXY), and in the same year Robert was promoted as a Systems Analyst. Robert is now involved in Process Control Engineering and is an integral part of OXY’s many successes in safety, production and care of the environment. Robert completed his 30th year of service with OXY in 2011.

Family

Robert and his wife Lisa have been married for 28 years and have made their home in both Manvel and Friendswood, Texas since 1983. Their two children, Benito and Felisa, are college seniors in Texas universities.

Concerns

Robert has been involved in politics his entire life, driven by his childhood memories of communism and his desire to keep communism from permeating the fabric of American life. His concern is that our government has been working outside the confines of a Constitutional Republic for far too long, and if left unchecked, will drive the U.S. economy into bankruptcy.

Political Experience

Robert is a Constitutional Conservative who has helped various campaigns and with his wife, helped found the Clear Lake Tea Party (CLTP) where he was the past Chairman of the Board. The CLTP has made great strides in promoting and advancing freedom and helping elect conservative candidates into all levels of government. With the help of the CLTP, Galveston County Republicans swept the November 2010 elections for the first time in over a century!

Robert is also a member of the Texas Tea Party Caucus Advisory Committee working with state Senators and Representatives in Austin. Robert held the office of Precinct (0655) clerk in the 2010 & 2011 elections. Robert was also a Delegate to the Texas State Convention in 2010.

Political Aspirations

Robert’s aspiration is to serve as U.S. Representative of Congressional District 14 upon Congressman Ron Paul’s retirement. He believes he will be able to represent the district using Constitutional principles as set forth by our Founding Fathers.
