Biography of Michael Herrington from Committee to Elect Michael Herrington

Like all too many, Michael grew up poor. His father worked for nearly 20 years on a county road department. His father ultimately became legally blind and was unable to work before passing away in 2007. His mother had an automobile accident in 1991 which left her paraplegic.

At the age of 13 he began to work summers in construction. Throughout high school it was usual to hold two jobs at a time. While doing so he managed to balance work, team sports, and his studies.

After he graduated from Sumrall High School, he decided to attend college at the University of Southern Mississippi. During that time, he was a proud member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity, worked on election commissions, a member of the SGA, and a founding member of S.I.F.E.(students in free enterprise). He worked hard and maintained multiple jobs to pay his way through college. In 2009, he graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration. His emphasis of study was economics, finance, and international business. He is a small business owner and also works in the service industry in Hattiesburg.

He is now running for congress to bring effective change to south Mississippi. For too long Mississippi has lacked the representation it deserves in the fourth district. When elected, he pledges to be available for constituents at all times to bring the district every penny possible. Washington is not meant to be a party. It’s time to live in a Mississippi where we all have the opportunity for the American Dream!
