Pete is proud to call Mobile, AL his home.
Pete was born to German immigrants and grew up in a middle class family in Texas. He was raised with a strong faith in God and learned the importance of responsibility and hard work before graduating from Clear Lake High School in 1978.
While attending the University of Houston, Pete enlisted in the U.S. Navy Reserve. After his graduation from college, he was commissioned and served twenty more active years in the United States Navy. During this time, Pete also received a Master of Military Arts & Science degree in National Security from the U.S. Army command and General Staff College.
Pete’s twenty-one years of service in the military were characterized by multiple leadership roles. His wide variety of experiences included assignments such as: Naval Liaison Officer to the Royal Saudi Navy during DESERT STORM, Operations Officer of a multi-national task force for Haiti, Intelligence Officer for NATO Southern Command in Italy, and Exercise Officer for the US Navy’s Sixth fleet in the Mediterranean Sea. Upon his retirement, Pete was Commanding Officer of the Navy and Marine Corps Reserve Center in Mobile, Alabama.
Besides his career in the military, Pete has also been involved in many civic and charitable works such as the March of Dimes, St. Jude’s Foundation, and Forest Hills Elementary School’s Partners in Education program. Pete has a special concern for veterans and he has worked with the Mobile Veteran’s Day Commission, the Gulf Coast chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association, Mobile Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee, and has served as past president of the Alabama chapter of the Military Officers Association of America. Presently, Pete is the operations director for Honor Flight of South AL, a nonprofit program established to recognize and honor the tremendous service and sacrifices of World War II veterans by providing air transportation to the national WWII memorial.
Pete retired from the military in 2005 and developed a career in Commercial Real Estate, but he continued in his passion to serve by volunteering his time and efforts to work for the future of the country. From 2007-2009, Pete was a member of the Mobile County Republican Executive Committee and he also served as Chairman of the Mobile GOP. Realizing that something more than partisan politics was needed, Pete joined the Tea Party movement immediately in 2009 and soon became a central figure in its organization in the Mobile and surrounding areas. Until recently, he has been the Executive Director for the Common Sense Campaign, a nonprofit, nonpartisan grassroots movement dedicated to restoring our Constitutional Republic.
Pete’s work as a tea party leader has taken him all over the state of Alabama to meet with, listen to, and provide direction for people who want to make a difference. Pete can also be found spearheading campaigns for conservative candidates, speaking at patriotic rallies, writing pertinent articles that have been published in papers such as The Mobile Press Register and The Mobile Bay Times, and taking an active role in local issues such as insurance reform and healthcare freedom. As your representative, Pete will be a strong voice for protecting the liberties of the people of Alabama, cutting federal spending and lowering taxes, restoring economic health through the free market, and returning our country to its Constitutional foundation.
