Anthony Weiner – Bio – (D-NY-9)

Congressman Weiner admits that he sent the picture. Also that he sent others. Andrew Breitbart broke the original story on his BigGovernment.com site, along with the most recent pictures. Wiener says that he is not going to resign. The most recent pictures may be seen here. The most recent pictures are more in line with what Chris Lee did and lead to his resigning.

He claims that he was trying to protect himself and his wife. He says that he and his wife are not splitting up. The women that he sent the pictures to, he claims that he met on Facebook. He stated that he did not use government computers, phones, or other resources to indulge in the “dumb thing” he did.

Breitbart says that he has a worse picture that he does not wish to release. Breitbart says that he believes that that picture would cause more harm to the family of Weiner.

Weiner stated that some of the women he has sent pictures as far back as 3 years ago. He said that his wife was aware that he had done this in the past before they were married, however she did not know about the most recent pictures being sent until he told her today.

He claims that he has never met with any of the women involved in this scandal. He stated that he does not dispute anything that any of the women have said. He claims that he has not had sex outside of marriage, that it was not because of use of drug or drinking.

Weiner stated that he does not believe this should be held against him in the next elections. He stated that he has put in the long hours and worked hard for his constituents. He stated that this was a personal failing and not a professional failing.

He believed that what he had done by not admitting the truth sooner lead to the news conference today. He was asked about if he knew for sure that any of the women in question were underage, and he stated that he felt that they were all above age. He does not believe that anything he did violates any law. It was people that he had developed relationships online with.

He stated that he did not personal know of them the women that he was tweeting. He stated that what he did was a “mistake.” He stated that his staff did not know the whole story till just before the press conference. He reiterated that he does not believe that he violated his oath of office.

He may have not broke any laws. But it may be safe to assume that he violated a House Rule, that he his actions was unbecoming of a member. What action will the house take against him? Will the New York delegation ask the Ethics Committee to look into this?
