Ministry Sues Rachel Maddow & MSNBC

You Can Run But You Cannot Hide International, Inc. and its founder, Bradlee Dean, will sue Rachel Maddow, MSNBC, and others for defamation. They say its not about the money but an effort to get the record corrected. The suit claims that MSNBC’s Maddow and others “accused Dean on her show of supporting the killing of homosexuals…” among other things.

Below find the posting of the press conference and also the letter that the site says was sent to media outlets. Links are included.

The following was post on  You Can Run But You Cannot Hide International, Inc.’s website:

Bradlee Dean and his attorney will speak at the press conference.

Bradlee Dean, a renowned hard metal rocker who came to Christ after suffering a hard life as a young boy, has dedicated his life to this mission, a mission that has been under attack by liberal media since its inception.

In the course of his ministry, Dean once made a statement on radio criticizing his fellow Christians for not taking a stronger stand about the gay rights lobby promoting homosexuality in the schools. He made a strong reference to Muslims taking the issue more seriously in the context of Shariah law, but did not condone their practices. It was Bradlee’s intent to focus attention on the issue, not to advocate harm to anyone.

Despite the very clear disclaimer by Bradlee Dean on his ministry’s website and elsewhere regarding the false accusation that he was calling for the execution of homosexuals, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow and others seized on and accused Dean on her show of supporting the killing of homosexuals, as is the practice in some radical Islamic countries. This seriously has harmed Dean and the ministry, who pride themselves on respect and love for all people.

In an interview earlier this year, MSNBC’s president Phil Griffin admitted that the network, to boost its ratings, caters to the so-called “progressive left”. This explains the malicious attacks on Bradlee Dean and his ministry, which are being used to harm the presidential campaign of Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, who is a conservative Christian.

In the past, Dean and his ministry have been complemented by presidential candidate Michele Bachmann (who prayed for the ministry) for their work in promoting values for the nation’s youth. The left wing media’s effort to defame Dean is an obvious way to try to harm Bachmann’s presidential prospects, who they fear and despise. Other left wing media outlets have followed MSNBC and Maddow in their slanderous efforts. This suit may just be the first in a series of cases meant to protect the fine reputation of Dean and his ministry.

The lawsuit is filed by attorney Larry Klayman, the founder of Judicial Watch and Freedom Watch, in DC Superior Court and seeks in excess of $50 million in damages. However, money is not the issue. “This case is filed as a matter of principle,” stated Klayman. “We need more Bradlee Deans in the world and hateful left wing television commentators must be made to respect not only his mission but the law,” he added.

This stemmed from others reporting from the alleged misinformation from MSNBC’s Maddow, and others. Below is the letter that was sent to several media outlets.

[Letter, with links as it appears on their site. ]

It has come to our attention that your organization continues to cite and quote news articles, written by reporter Andy Birkey and the MN Independent, concerning You Can Run But You Cannot Hide, Intl and Bradlee Dean. This information has been quoted, misquoted and recycled so many times that attribution to Andy Birkey has been lost and the information is simply quoted as fact. This organization, its legal counsel, and Bradlee Dean have provided responses, detailed information, corrections and clarifications on every subject addressed by Andy Birkey and our other critics.

These responses, which include homosexuality, political affiliations, and tax matters [and many other outlandish slanders not worth mentioning] . . . have been available on our website since June 3rd, 2010 (see disclaimer 1, see disclaimer 2). We have recently added Bradlee Dean’s statement on CW Channel 23 in MN, which aired on April 23, 2011, and it is also a video posted on our website, YouCanRunInternational.com, titled “Bradlee Dean Debunks Lies”. Your failure to publish or even reference those resources implies that a journalistic bias exists and nullifies any claim of neutrality. Your use of Andy Birkey’s information and its many iterations has resulted in the publication of information that is false, contextually inaccurate, formed by innuendo, misquoted or misstated.

It has been reported by numerous news outlets that our organization has refused to respond to the questions posed by their particular reporter. That is only true in the most technical sense. Although the organization does not respond to every inquiry; we have, through the resources listed above, responded to each and every controversy and issue posed.

You are now “on notice” of the existence of these resources and the responses they contain. It is our expectation that your organization will avail itself of this information and publish reports that are balanced, truthful and in proper perspective.

From this time forward publication of information which, states, as fact, or attributes to our organization’s opinions or policies which are contrary to the organization’s clear statements on our website concerning those issues, will be viewed as the intentional publication of false information.

A free press can only bring freedom when what is published is true.

Sincerely,

Jake MacAulay, Chief Operations Officer
