Obama and the Birth Certificate
I was never a ‘birther’, one of those who doubted where Barack Obama was born. I accepted the fact he was born in Hawaii and no one ever came up with any evidence to the contary. If someone had some tangible proof he was not born in America, put up or shut up. It did strike me as a bit odd he would not end the controversy, if you can call the childish beliefs of a few fringe nut cases a controversy, by simply releasing the document a long time ago.
Obviously the main reason he allowed this to go on as long as it did was to distract people from the real problem of this President. That is, his abysmal job performance. As long as people were getting themselves worked up over this non-issue, he could avoid the tough questions. Hopefully, that is now behind us. Clearly the liberal media, the ones who like to refer to themselves as ‘mainstream’, will continue to do everything it can to protect him and will never ask him anything more difficult than “I bet your grandma is proud of you” (this ‘question’ was actually tossed to him in an interview on NBC once). With someone like Donald Trump, someone the public cannot seem to get enough of so Obama’s media cannot ignore him, out there raising hell and asking Obama to explain himself, we will see some traction on what is really important. Hopefully, Trump will stop this birth certificate nonsense and go after him for what really matters.
Because of this, it is likely that Obama will look back at his decision to release his birth certificate as a huge mistake. He will now need to come up with a new distraction issue so the voters won’t look at his incompetence, weak leadership and total lack of any solutions, other than more taxes, high gas prices, windmills and curly cue light bulbs.
I do agree with him that the birth certificate issue was silly. And is was silly of him not to have resolved it long ago. Of course, immediately after calling it silly, what does he do to work on the nation’s problems? He goes on the Oprah show to have people fawn over him and tell him how awesomely awesome he is. And them he heads to New York for campaign fundraising. Let’s hope his media toadys remembered to bring along the giant mirror they carry for him so he will not miss an opportunity to admire himself. Unlike the birth certificate fiasco, this is serious business in Obamaland.
Hopefully, voters will stop being smitten by this guy and actually vote with their heads and vote for what is important. Personally, he never made my leg tingle so I was left using my head to make my decision about him. I am not the least bit disappointed in him. My expectations were probably a little more realistic. It was clear this part-time, no-show legislator and rookie, no experience Senator (that job basically fell into his lap) was not the least bit qualified to be President. I know, his supporters will point to his success as a community organizer (whatever that is) as his stepping stone to the White House but, I would have liked to have seen a little more. As far as him being editor of the Harvard Law Review, that means he was probably a fair legal researcher and little else.
Finally, as to the liberal extremists and their holier than thou attitude toward birthers, they have nothing to brag about. At least a third of all liberal Democrats believed, and mostly still do, that George Bush was behind the 9/11 attacks. Compared to that, the birthers seem downright rational and certainly a lot more adult-like.
