Joseph McCray Sr. Congressional Candidate California District 6
Biography of Joseph McCray from Joseph McCray Sr. for Congress
Before deciding to become a California Republican Candidate, Joseph McCray Sr. was a successful businessman, President, CEO, Owner and Founder of JM & SONS Landscaping Company and President of McCray’s Family Foundation, a Non-Profit Organization.
He was born the son of a military soldier, while his mother was living in Mississippi with her mother and father near a military installation. His mother understood the importance and roles of black women living in the south at that time, and the impact that she would have on her family and community. Her ability to unite her family before the movement of black women’s organizations and others that place issues of concern to black people on the national agenda was a tribute to her dedication and insight. She made the decision to send Joseph to Chicago, Illinois at an early age to live with other family members, and attend school. Joseph later became the first member of his family to receive a college degree. He followed that with a graduate degree, and also worked on a PhD.
However, while attending DeVry Institution of Technology, he struggled with working nights and attending school during the day as well as financing his education.
At some point, things changed. Joseph got married and was inducted into the US Army where he diligently pursued and successfully completed all requirements leading to a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree at Columbia College, in Business Administration, from Columbia, Missouri.
He also graduated from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri where he earned a Master’s of Art degree (MA) in Computer Resources and Information Management.
Joseph McCray Sr. is a retired military officer with over thirty (30) years of honorable service where his primary branch was law enforcement and his secondary was computer security. His many assignments were both stateside and overseas. Most rotations for new assignments would take place from approximately one to three years.
Before becoming a California Congressional District 6 candidate, Joseph McCray Sr. was President, CEO, Owner and Founder of JM & SONS Landscaping Company, where he developed and implemented a quality-oriented organization specializing in ecological enhancement of the environment for the benefit of the entire community.
As a community volunteer, he worked with young people and successfully coached the boy’s baseball team to a championship. He also coached a boys inner-city basketball team.
