Biography of Eugene Ray from Eugene Ray for Congress

Eugene Ray was born in Los Angeles in 1952. He moved to Vacaville in 1954 when his father was transferred to the opening of the California Medical Facility as a correctional officer.

Eugene started school at the one-room original Browns Valley elementary school in the valley just north of Vacaville. He attended the Vacaville school system and graduated from Vacaville High School in 1970 as an Academic and Athletic All-American. Eugene participated in football, wrestling, track and field, and tennis.

He finished junior college and went to Chico State University where he was a Pre-Med major. He changed his focus and went into Real Estate and Martial Arts becoming a Realtor in 1976 with the Northern Solano Board of Realtors. He has been in real estate for over 30 years specializing in residential, farms, ranches and vacant land.

Eugene earned his Black Belt in 1973 and has gone on to win State, Regional and World Titles. He is currently an 8th degree Black Belt teaching karate classes and the stand-up portion of the MMA. His students have won numerous championships and titles. One student is a 10-time World Full-Contact Champion.

He had an extensive outreach program for “at risk” youth that he taught out of different churches for several years. He gave free lessons if they stayed out of trouble and kept their grades up. He enlisted people from the private sector as volunteers to tutor the youth. Eugene recruited an individual to teach English classes to the families of his Mexican and Latin American students. Several hundred kids and their family members completed the program. The program was extremely successful and received both local and national media attention.

Eugene has two children plus a bonus child. He has a son that’s in college on a baseball scholarship and a daughter that’s in college preparing for law school. They have a little brother that everybody just made part of the family. Their dad says that they’re without question three of the “most awesome kids” ever.

Eugene Ray is now running for the United States Congress so that he can help to insure that his kids, and the other young people of America, will be able to live, work, and raise their kids in a country that’s just as good, or even better than the one he had the opportunity to grow up in.
