Al Ramirez Senatorial Candidate California

Biography of Al Ramirez from Al Ramirez For US Senate

Just like everyone else my story starts where I was born and raised, in my case that was Dallas, Texas. It’s where I attended public and private Catholic schools and I graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies. But home is where the heart is and my heart belongs to California’s future.

As far as my family background goes, on my father’s side of the family our roots date back to the Native American Choctaws and Spanish immigrants who settled in the Louisiana Territory. I also have ancestors of Mexican heritage on both sides and French immigrants on my Mother’s side of the family. When you take all these halves together I like to say that’s how you make a whole All-American.

In terms of my professional background, my career covers a nearly two decade record of sales management success in the telecommunications industry. I started working after college at AT&T and it provided me the foundation to hold other deal winning roles. I’ve also played key leadership roles with companies that revolutionized the way businesses use the Internet including working on the preparation of a successful IPO and holding a senior leadership role at Samsung where my principal responsibility involved working in Seoul, South Korea on the development of new wireless products. I have also provided telecommunications services to support efforts by the Department of Homeland Security to manage the process to deport those here illegally and to help local criminal justice agencies prevent or solve crimes.

I firmly believe in the American Dream, and to me “the American Dream is a promise that every generation can do better than the one before”. This is why I encourage, support and have sought opportunities for public service over the past 20 years at the local and state levels, and most recently I was a candidate for the US Senate from California in 2010. Thru my own experiences in public service the single greatest lesson I have learned is, “you never lose when you serve your country” and there is no greater country than the United States of America.
