Biography of Jason Roberts from Jason Roberts for US Congress
Jason Roberts is a small business owner, a proven community leader, and founder of the Better Block Project, a national movement that cities around the world are now embracing to help revitalize blighted and under developed neighborhoods. Jason doesn’t hesitate to roll up his sleeves and will work tirelessly to Build a Better Congress. Jason has been wholly devoted to making life better for the citizens in his community and now he is ready to take his fresh perspective, cooperative spirit and know-how to Washington, D.C.
Improving the quality of life and levels of safety in our neighborhoods around the nation, bringing economic revitalization to areas that have been “left out” in the past, ensuring that government is transparent and user-friendly, and making our government operate efficiently are the hallmarks of Jason’s campaign.
Jason is the only candidate in District 33 who has a proven track record of improving quality of life and creating economic development opportunities from the sidewalks on up. Through his grassroots endeavor, The Better Block Project, Jason has helped revitalize once-bypassed areas in his neighborhood, his city and in 15 cities throughout the United States.
Along with The Better Block, Jason founded the Oak Cliff Transit Authority, and spearheaded the successful effort to land a $23 million federal grant that will fund a streetcar line from downtown Dallas to Oak Cliff. He co-founded Bike Friendly Oak Cliff, a biking initiative that has inspired 8 other bike friendly groups in the DFW area.
Jason’s experience goes beyond community leadership as he is a small business owner too. His work as an IT professional has shown him that there is technology now available that can create an open and transparent government and help give citizens the information they need quickly. As a restaurant owner, he’s no stranger to putting in the long hours needed to make a business a success.
Jason is a dedicated husband and proud father of two children who proudly attend Dallas public schools.
Jason is a leader, a collaborator, a listener and someone who can energize the people of District 33 and the U.S. House of Representatives to take on the challenges to ensure that both our communities and our country are better places.
