Biography of Marc Carey from Marc Carey for US Congress

I was born in the old Booth Hospital in Covington Kentucky. My early years were spent in Ludlow Kentucky where my parents had grown up.

Our family then moved to Erlanger where I started kindergarten at the old Locust Street School and eventually graduated from Lloyd High School.

I met my wife when we were 15. We married when I was 20 and have been married for 39 years.

I worked my way through college at Northern Kentucky University, attending classes both during the day and night in order to complete my degree.

My wife and I rented rooms above an older couple in Covington and lived the first several years of our marriage there. We insisted upon doing everything on our own without any help from parents or the government.

Eventually I graduated from Northern and was accepted at Chase College of Law where I graduated in 1980, with honors and as president of the student body.

I began the private practice of law, and we began our family in a small apartment in Park Hills. Three years later we had our second son, bought our first house and I became city attorney for Park Hills, a position I held for 16 years.

Eventually as our boys grew we bought a farm in Owen County. I became a self taught farmer, which means I had to learn carpentry, wiring, fence building, animal husbandry, farm management, and a smattering of diesel mechanics and other skills possessed by the extraordinarily self reliant people of my community.

We took an old farm and brought it back to productive capacity. We raised tobacco, cattle, herds of horses, two fine sons and a yard full of dogs. Our independent spirit found a home in the country.

I have been practicing law for 32 years. I have had the same secretary for 31 years. I have represented thousands of people, real humans with real problems that needed real solutions. Representing people is what I have done all my adult life.

My law office is on the Dixie Highway in Erlanger Kentucky, directly across from St. Henry Church, in my home town.

While others may find it politically advantageous to call themselves “Constitutional Conservatives”, I have been practicing Constitutional Law for 32 years. I have defended the First Amendment in Federal Court, in my own name, and won. I do not just talk the current talk, I have walked the walk and have done it over virtual hot coals.

I am an Endowment Member of the NRA. I have held nearly every office in the Republican party that exists, from poll worker, to precinct captain, to county chair, to fourth district chair, to Vice Chair and acting chair of the state party.

I have held a number of positions in the Kentucky Bar Association, serving on the Ethics Committee for many years.

I am a man of deep faith. God lifted me up at an early age and has never let me down. Any thing I do I only do because I am leaning entirely on God, and it is His strength which supports those who lean on me.
