Biography of Gary Moore from Moore for Congress
Gary Moore’s roots run deep in the fourth congressional district. Gary is proud to have always lived, worked and served in our community. Gary has been happily married to his wife Joy for 22 years. Joy, is a former special education teacher and a graduate of Chase College of Law. Gary and Joy live in Boone County where they attend and are active together in their local church. They are proud parents to Brandi and Scott. Both of their children are married and Gary and Joy have the blessing of three grandchildren.
Gary was born and raised in Pendleton County. He spent much of his time, as a boy, on his family’s small tobacco and cattle farm, pitching in for the family and learning the value of hard work. Although the family farm was a major part of their life, Gary’s father also served with the Pendleton County Sheriff’s Department. And was elected as the Pendleton County Sheriff when Gary was a young man . It was through this experience that Gary learned the value of service to a greater cause. Years of watching his father enforce the law and serve the needs of the county instilled a belief in public service and the true meaning of community.
Gary started his adult life in the private sector with a local and family owned, building supply business. Gary started with this company on the ground level and quickly learned the qualities necessary for a successful businessman and leader. He advanced steadily and was quickly trusted to serve as General Manager and Vice-President. It was Gary’s dedication to customer service and effective management that propelled Gary forward in the business world.
In 1998, Gary was elected Judge-Executive of Boone County, the highest elected office in county government. Gary took his business experience and attitude of customer service to lead Boone County to new heights. Today, Boone County is the fourth largest and one of the fastest growing counties in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Gary has been elected and re-elected because he has delivered proven results and stayed true to the conservative principles he espoused. Gary’s career parallels a distinguished career in private business and public service.
Gary has been dedicated to serving his community in many other ways. He currently serves on the executive committee for the Tri-County Economic Development Corporation, a resource for business development throughout Northern Kentucky. He also serves on the executive committee of the Kentucky County Judge/Executive Association. He was elected as a board member of the National Association of Regional Councils and is past President of the OKI Regional Council of Governments which serves the eight county Greater Cincinnati region. Judge Moore is a board member of the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, Northern Kentucky University Foundation, St. Elizabeth Healthcare Board, US Bank Northern Kentucky Advisory Board and the Dan Beard Council of Boy Scouts. He has served as President of the Kentucky Jaycees and on the Board of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and has provided leadership and service to many community groups including Catholic Social Services and Leadership Kentucky.
