Biography of Alecia Webb-Edgington from Alecia Webb-Edgington for Congress
Rep. Alecia Webb-Edgington (R) represents District 63, which covers part of Kenton County. Webb-Edgington earned a bachelor’s degree from Western Kentucky University in sociology and criminology, and earned a master’s degree from Eastern Kentucky University in criminal justice. She worked for the Kentucky State Police as the chief information officer, and also worked for the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security, where she became the first female head of the office.
Webb-Edgington has served in the Kentucky House of Representatives since 2008 and recently served as 4th District Republican Party Chairwoman. She lives in Ft. Wright with her husband Ted and their daughter Jill.
Pro-Life: During her campaigns for State Representative, Alecia has been endorsed by both the Kentucky Right to Life and Northern Kentucky Right to Life.
10th Amendment: Alecia was a sponsor of 10th Amendment legislation during the 2010 session of the Kentucky General Assembly.
Bill Summary:
“Declare state sovereignty over powers not given to the federal government by the U. S. Constitution; demand the federal government to cease mandates beyond constitutionally delegated powers; prohibit federal legislation requiring state passage of laws under threat of penalties or sanctions.”
2nd Amendment: As a former Kentucky State Trooper, Alecia values our 2nd Amendment rights. She owns several firearms and has her conceal carry permit. Alecia sponsored the Kentucky Firearms Freedom Act.
Bill Summary:
“The second amendment to the Constitution of the United States reserves to the people the right to keep and bear arms as that right was understood at the time that Kentucky was admitted to statehood on June 1, 1792, and the guaranty of the right is a matter of contract between the Commonwealth and people of Kentucky and the United States as of the time that Kentucky was admitted as a state of the United States on June 1, 1792.”
Taxes: Alecia has never, and will never, vote for a tax increase. She has signed the Americans for Tax Reform pledge.
Government Spending: Alecia has voted against increases in government spending while supporting cutting government instead of increasing taxes on small businesses and all Kentuckians. Alecia she voted against an Omnibus Revenue Bill in 2010 and the 2010 proposed budget. Also, she has advocated closing the Kentucky Department of Education to help save cost.
